OMD - Universal mp3 album
Universal is the tenth album by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released in 1996. It spawned the group's first Top 20 hit in the UK for over five years with the track "Walking on the Milky Way". However, follow-up single "Universal" and the album itself performed poorly and this lack of success prompted singer Andy McCluskey to dissolve the band. It would remain their final album for over a decade until the group's reunion.
Universal" is a song the British band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) released as the second and last single from their album Universal. The single peaked at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Like the previous single "Walking on the Milky Way", it was released on CD and cassette formats but not on 7" or 12" vinyl. Heaven Is (live)" - 4:49. Universal (album version)" - 5:40. 5" CD single 2. VSCDG 1606.
OMD Universal (1996) Walking On The Milky Way. 04:38.
But the approach was so stylistically sensitive that even now, in 2004, it makes more sense than half of the filler out there. Furthermore, it's probably the most emotionally genuine album I've ever heard from OMD, including their "roots" days back in the early 80's. Universal solidifies their standing, delivering the best pop album, modern music has to offer easily. It rivals their debut in brilliance.

With this album, OMD regained their commercial grounding following the poor reception and sales to their previous effort Dazzle Ships. It had a much slicker sound in contrast to Dazzle Ships's experimental nature, largely attributed to the band's acquisition of the Fairlight CMI digital sampling/sequencing workstation.
