Georgie Auld - Homage mp3 album
Auld is heard teamed with the excellent trumpeter Don Fagerquist, guitarist Howard Roberts, pianist Lou Levy, vibraphonist Larry Bunker, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Mel Lewis on a dozen swing songs, most of which he originally recorded with the Benny Goodman Sextet. The treatments are a bit more modern (as much West Coast jazz as swing), and Benny Goodman's clarinet is replaced by vibes, but the musicians sometimes quote the original recordings in subtle ways.
