Black Lips - Good Bad Not Evil mp3 album
On Good Bad Not Evil they channel the gleeful incompetence and snarling but cutely precocious badinage of a thousand nameless teen combos from decades past. Thankfully the Black Lips are not content to be pegged as also ran garage revivalists, and the chiming chords of Cold Hands, and the hummable chorus of the stomping Bad Kids owe as much to New Zealand pop merchants The Clean as to the garage staples to whom the band are constantly compared.
Los Valientes del Mundo Nuevo (The Braves of the New World) is the second live album by the lo-fi garage rock band Black Lips. This recording is purportedly from a live show performed in Tijuana, Mexico. But this claim's validity has frequently been called into question. Many of the songs featured appeared on the band's previous studio album, Let It Bloom. Sea of Blasphemy" – 2:14. Not a Problem" – 3:14. Hippie, Hippie, Hoorah" – 2:53.
The Black Lips are a boy band gone bad; good bad, that is, not evil. A gang of four from Atlanta, Georgia, they make wildly infectious, spittle-flecked garage punk that sticks in your brain like a fish-hook. Their gigs are a raucous spew of noise in squalid, low-ceilinged sweatboxes that frequently involve nudity, pissing and indiscriminate gobbing. Frontman Cole Alexander habitually plays guitar solos with his dick. But the scruffy dreamboats are about trashy fun, not shock rock. None the less, this is the Lips' fifth album and their slickest yet. It hurtles along with impressive momentum, its 13 songs each under three minutes long. Underneath the noise the Lips are a pop band par excellence. Their tunes have all the elements that make chart toppers: brevity, melody, and personality. Their love of girl groups is as apparent as their Sixties garage obsession.
Labeled as garage rock but far from content to play one particular style of music for long, Atlanta's Black Lips are as adept at playing reverb-heavy, Gun Club-ish rockabilly ("I Saw A Ghost"), Muswell Hillbillies-era Kinks-iness ("How Do You Tell a Child"), spacey psyche Replacements rock, Oblivians-style lo-fi. let's just say these guys can play anything
